Gov. Bev Perdue announced today that AptarGroup, Inc., a leading global supplier of customized dispensing systems (spray and lotion pumps, dispensing closures, and aerosol valves) for the beauty, personal care, pharmaceutical, household, food and beverage markets, will open its newest manufacturing facility in Lincolnton. The company plans to create 150 jobs over the next five years with approximately $50 million in capital investments in Lincolnton. The project was made possible in part by a state grant from the Job Development Investment Grant program.

For the second consecutive year, North Carolina was ranked No. 2 on Chief Executive Magazine’s list of best states for business. North Carolina received five stars for living environment and four stars each for workforce quality and taxation and regulations in the rankings compiled from surveys of 550 CEOs from across the country. The CEOs considered the factors most critical to an environment where business can thrive.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that The Roberts Company, a provider of design, fabrication and installation services for the chemical, power, mining and pulp and paper industries, will expand with a new facility in Pitt County. The company plans to create 29 jobs and invest $3.25 million during the next three years in Winterville. The project was made possible in part by an $80,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced today that Janesville Acoustics, a leading supplier of acoustical and molded fiber products for the automotive industry, will expand their manufacturing facility in McDowell County. The company plans to create 40 jobs and invest $1.5 million during the next three years in Old Fort. The project was made possible in part by a $120,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that DuBose Strapping, Inc., a manufacturer of steel and plastic strapping for packaging applications, will expand its production facility in Sampson County. The company plans to create 34 jobs and invest $10.5 million during the next three years in Clinton. The project was made possible in part by a $138,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue has declared May 2011 to be “Workforce Development Professionals Month” in North Carolina to honor all professionals who play such a vital role in our economy.  Workforce development professionals, organizations and partnerships are more critical than ever in a rapidly changing labor market that demands new skills and training programs.  

Secretary Keith Crisco today announced that 16 North Carolina small businesses and organizations will receive awards from the North Carolina Green Business Fund, totaling $4,580,686.45.  These projects will result in a total of approximately 35 jobs being created or retained. “Encouraging investments in the green economy is a centerpiece of our job creation strategy,” said Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco.  “This fast growing industry holds vast potential for the future and we must continue to support its development in North Carolina.”

Today, Gov. Bev Perdue announced plans to honor communities across the state for the creative, innovative ways they help small businesses bring jobs to North Carolina. Two-thirds of all new jobs are created by small businesses, making them critical economic drivers for communities across the state.
