On the heels of the largest jobs commitment in North Carolina’s history, Governor Josh Stein, North Carolina Department of Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina traveled to Paris to advocate for North Carolina with business leaders at the 55th edition of the Paris Air Show.
Today Governor Josh Stein announced the state is accepting applications for a new program to repair or rebuild homes in western North Carolina that were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Helene. The program is the first of a series of recovery initiatives to be offered by the North Carolina Commerce Department’s Division of Community Revitalization under the program name Renew NC.
Today Governor Josh Stein announced JetZero, Inc., a breakthrough aviation company, will invest more than $4.7 billion in Greensboro to build its first commercial airplane manufacturing facility at the Piedmont Triad International Airport. The project will create more than 14,560 jobs for Guilford County by 2063, the largest economic development project in North Carolina history based on job commitment.

Today Governor Josh Stein announced BSH Home Appliances Corporation (BSH), the home appliances division of the Bosch Group, will add 199 new jobs in Craven County. The company will invest more than $11 million to expand its New Bern facility into a hub for all U.S. innovation and manufacturing.
Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) decreased in all 100 counties in April 2025. Edgecombe County had the highest unemployment rate at 4.9 percent while Currituck and Camden Counties each had the lowest at 2.7 percent. All fifteen of the state’s metro areas experienced rate decreases. Among the metro areas, Rocky Mount had the highest rate at 4.5 percent while Raleigh had the lowest at 2.9 percent. The not seasonally adjusted statewide rate was 3.4 percent.
 Today, Governor Josh Stein announced Daimler Truck Financial Services USA (DTFS), the financial lender for Daimler Truck North America, will create 276 jobs in Mecklenburg County. The company will invest more than $7.8 million to locate its headquarters in Charlotte.“I am pleased to welcome Daimler Truck Financial Services USA to North Carolina,” said Governor Stein. “More than 200 financial service companies call North Carolina home thanks to our skilled workforce and top-tier quality of life.”
Today Governor Josh Stein announced that Pelsan Tekstil A.S., a global leader in breathable film technologies for the hygiene and medical sectors, will establish its first production facility in the United States in Wayne County, creating 216 jobs. The company will make an $82.6 million investment in Goldsboro.
Today Governor Josh Stein announced that AVL Manufacturing (AVL USA, Inc.) will establish a new production facility in Charlotte to build enclosures for industrial power generators, creating more than 325 jobs. The company will invest $56 million in Mecklenburg County.
The state’s seasonally adjusted April 2025 unemployment rate was 3.7 percent, unchanged from March’s revised rate. The national rate was unchanged at 4.2 percent.North Carolina’s unemployment rate increased 0.1 of a percentage point from a year ago. The number of people employed decreased 81 over the month to 5,098,151 and increased 1,063 over the year. The number of people unemployed increased 1,173 over the month to 196,360 and increased 7,959 over the year.
