Raleigh, N.C. — The state’s seasonally adjusted November unemployment rate was 4.3 percent, increasing 0.2 of a percentage point from October’s revised rate.  The national rate remained unchanged at 4.1 percent. North Carolina’s November 2017 unemployment rate decreased 0.9 of a percentage point from a year ago.  The number of people employed decreased 3,262 over the month to 4,739,461 and increased 81,649 over the year. The number of people unemployed increased 9,654 over the month to 213,437 and decreased 41,228 over the year.

Linamar Forgings Carolina (LFC), an automotive manufacturer, will create 31 jobs with an expansion of its existing manufacturing facility in Wilson County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest more than $6.8 million with this project. “North Carolina continues to grow our leadership in manufacturing with this expansion,” Governor Cooper said. “Linamar Forgings Carolina’s positive experience with our state’s talent, infrastructure and business climate led them to decide to expand in our state.”
Sealed Air Corporation, a leading packaging solutions company, will create 25 jobs and invest $10.4 million over three years as it expands its manufacturing facility in Lenoir, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. “Leading manufacturers continue to recognize North Carolina as the best state for business in America,” Governor Cooper said. “Sealed Air decided to expand here because they know North Carolina has what it takes for businesses to succeed.”
