One North Carolina Small Business Grants Go to 29 Companies

Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory and Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III announced today that $1.7 million from the One North Carolina Small Business Program has been awarded to 29 small companies across 13 North Carolina communities. The companies will use the funds to develop new products, hire additional employees, and purchase equipment and materials.

Norafin Americas Selects Henderson County for First U.S. Manufacturing Facility, Creating 46 Jobs

Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina announced today that Norafin Americas, Inc. will establish a manufacturing plant in Henderson County, which will create 46 new jobs during the next three years. The German nonwoven textile maker will invest $16 million at a location in Mills River for its first production facility outside of Germany.

Governor McCrory Announces Lotus Bakeries to Create 60 New Jobs in Alamance County

Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) announced today that Lotus Bakeries will create 60 new jobs by December 31, 2020 as it opens its first U.S manufacturing operation in Alamance County. The company plans to invest more than $48 million at the N.C. Industrial Center in Mebane.

Charlotte, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) announced today that JELD-WEN anticipates it will add 200 jobs at its headquarters operations in Mecklenburg County. Governor McCrory Announces Expansion by Pepsi Bottling Ventures, Creating 50 News Jobs

Governor Pat McCrory, North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) today announced that Pepsi Bottling Ventures LLC will create 50 jobs over the next five years at a new $16.5 million distribution center in Robeson County. Additionally, another 250 jobs will remain in the area.

North Carolina's September Employment Figures Released

IGH — The state's seasonally adjusted September unemployment rate was 4.7 percent, increasing 0.1 of a percentage point from August's revised rate. The national rate increased 0.1 of a percentage point to 5.0 percent.

North Carolina's September 2016 unemployment rate was 1.0 percentage points lower than a year ago.  The number of people employed increased 7,559 over the month to 4,596,364 and increased 98,277 over the year. The number of people unemployed increased 5,671 over the month to 227,377, and decreased 42,158 over the year.

NC Manufacturing Week Continues with Commerce Secretary's Visit to Sanford Industrial Equipment Maker

Capping off a week-long celebration of North Carolina manufacturers, Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, presented a proclamation for North Carolina Manufacturing Week to Jerry Pedley, founder of Mertek Solutions Inc., a Sanford company that designs and builds automated assembly and test equipment for manufacturers.



Governor McCrory has proclaimed the week of October 3-7, 2016, North Carolina Manufacturing Week. The recognition coincides with National Manufacturing Day, which is today.

Commerce Secretary Highlights Manufacturing Week at ABCO Automation
