Governor Cooper Announces 600 New Jobs as Xerox Selects Wake County for a New Center of Excellence

Xerox (NYSE: XRX), a Fortune 500 technology company, will build a new Center of Excellence in Cary, creating 600 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $18.4 million in Wake County.

“Xerox, which had many locations to choose from, selected North Carolina because they know we can offer the highly-skilled workers they need, both now and in the future,” said Governor Cooper.

High-Tech Communications System Manufacturer Expands in Pasquotank County

Telephonics Corporation, a communication system company, will create 75 jobs as it expands its operations in Pasquotank County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $5.5 million in a new facility, located in Elizabeth City.

“North Carolina has the second largest aerospace cluster in the U.S.,” said Governor Cooper. “Telephonics Corporation can see Pasquotank County’s growing infrastructure and main street development, along with a strong workforce to fuel their expansion in Elizabeth City.”

Public Comment Sought on Revised Criteria for Job Maintenance and Capital Development Fund Program

Public comments are being accepted through August 19 on proposed amendments to the Criteria for Operation and Implementation of the Job Maintenance and Capital Development Fund program.

Biopharmaceutical Manufacturer Merck Selects Durham and Wilson Counties for New Projects

Merck (NYSE: MRK), a leading global biopharmaceutical company, will invest more than $650 million and create more than 400 jobs in North Carolina, building a new production facility at its Maurice R. Hilleman Center for Vaccine Manufacturing in Durham and expanding its packaging operations in Wilson.  This substantial project will enable Merck to meet growing demand for GARDASIL and GARDASIL 9 recombinant human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which is used to prevent several cancers associated with HPV.

Tire Distributor to Invest $2.7 million in Columbus County Expansion

Black’s Tire Service, Inc, a tire distributor and service company will create 26 jobs as it expands its operations in Columbus County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $2.7 million to expand their current distribution center, located in Whiteville.

Global Industrial Company ABB Selects Orange County for Major Expansion

ABB, Inc. (NYSE: ABB), a global leader in electrification products, robotics, and industrial automation, will expand in Orange County and create more than 400 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest up to $39.9 million to upgrade equipment and increase the size of its current facility in Mebane. 

Goodyear Awarded Grant from Job Maintenance and Capital Development Fund for Cumberland County Facility

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has been awarded a Job Maintenance and Capital Development Fund (JMAC) grant to support the upgrade and addition of manufacturing equipment at its Fayetteville tire plant.  As a result of this modernization project, Goodyear, one of Cumberland County’s largest private employers, will maintain its important role in the company’s operations and 2,000 North Carolina jobs will be protected.

Governor Cooper Announces Lowe’s Will Locate New Global Technology Center in Charlotte

Governor Roy Cooper announced today that Mooresville-based home improvement company Lowe’s will locate a major new technology center in Charlotte, creating more than 1,600 jobs.

“Lowe’s is expanding in a way that will take technology to new heights and this company knows its home state can provide the highly trained workforce it needs,” Gov. Cooper said. “We are committed to ensuring workers have the right skills to encourage companies to grow their footprint in our state with confidence.”

Air Filtration Manufacturer to Create 305 New Jobs in Wilson County

CleanAire, LLC, an air filtration manufacturing company that will be doing business as Pamlico Air will create 305 jobs as it expands its operations in Wilson County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $10 million in operating a facility, located in Wilson.

Major Pet Products Manufacturer SynergyLabs Selects Burke County for New Venture and Facility

SynergyLabs, a fast-growing manufacturer of specialty pet products, has selected Burke County as the location for a new company that will create 237 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The enterprise will invest $11.2 million to ramp up a new manufacturing plant in Hildebran.
