Biopharmaceutical Manufacturer Merck Expands Again in Wilson County with $57 Million Investment

Merck (NYSE: MRK), a leading global biopharmaceutical company, will invest $57 million and create 55 jobs in Wilson, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The expansion will establish a filling and packaging line for the company’s RotaTeq® vaccine.

“Merck is a cornerstone of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, and good jobs will continue to grow with today’s announcement in Wilson,” said Governor Cooper.  

Little Leaf Farms Will Create 100 Jobs and Build High-Tech Greenhouse Complex in Yancey County

A new wholly owned subsidiary of Little Leaf Farms, LLC, an innovative producer of fresh lettuce, will build a state-of-the-art greenhouse complex in Yancey County, creating up to 100 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest up to $86 million in Burnsville in a multi-phased planned expansion.

"North Carolina is known for innovation and agriculture. Projects like Little Leaf’s new greenhouse mean a better product and more sustainable practices to grow crops and jobs in Yancey County,” said Governor Cooper. 

Governor Cooper Announces 749 New Jobs as Clinical Trial Lab Company Expands in Durham County

Q2 Solutions, a leading clinical trial laboratory services organization, will establish a new facility in Durham to help develop the next generation of precision medicines, creating 749 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. Q2 Solutions will invest $73 million in the project, which will grow in two phases over seven years.

Hose Manufacturer to Invest $7.9 Million in Pender County

Polyhose Inc., an industrial hose manufacturer, will create 51 jobs in Pender County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $7.9 million to locate a warehouse and assembly plant along U.S.-421 in Pender County.

“Pender County is ready to grow, and international companies like Polyhose know North Carolina’s strong workforce is the right way to put their strategy to work,” said Governor Cooper.

The Fresh Market to Expand Corporate Headquarters, Will Invest $5.4 Million in Guilford County

The Fresh Market, a fresh-focused specialty food retailer that was founded in Greensboro in 1982, will expand their headquarters operations in North Carolina, creating 53 new jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company plans to invest $5.4 million in Greensboro.

Governor Cooper Announces 400 New Jobs in Chapel Hill for Healthcare Technology Operations Center

Well Dot, Inc., (Well) a fast-growing healthcare technology company will locate a new operations center in Chapel Hill, creating 400 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $3 million in Orange County.

"Healthcare and information technology are areas where North Carolina excels, because of our strong workforce and the continued pipeline of workers from universities and colleges all over the state,” said Governor Cooper. “Companies like Well see our achievements as a strong reason to choose places like Chapel Hill to pursue their plans for success.”

Boat Builder to Invest $12 Million in Beaufort County

Pamlico Yachtworks, a boat manufacturer, will create 207 jobs in Beaufort County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $12 million to operate a manufacturing facility in Washington.

“Pamlico Yachtworks is the newest addition to North Carolina’s manufacturing reputation and tradition,” said Governor Cooper. “I support the people of Beaufort County and I know they are prepared to enhance this growing business with their expertise and hard work.”

Greenhouse Operation to Invest $21 Million in Henderson County

BrightFarms, a packaged salads company, will create 54 jobs in Henderson County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $21 million to operate a hydroponic greenhouse in the Etowah community of Henderson County.

“Agriculture has always been a strong driver in North Carolina, and BrightFarms’ expansion is good for our state. They are committed to conserving water, land and energy resources while growing their business--green economic development that is good for the company, the community and the workers who will support them,” said Governor Cooper.

Technology Company to Add 430 New Jobs in Mecklenburg County

Microsoft Corp. (NYSE: MSFT), a technology company, will create 430 new jobs in Mecklenburg County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $23 million to expand their operations in Charlotte. 

“Global companies like Microsoft can choose anywhere in the world to expand, and again a highly recognizable brand has decided North Carolina is the right fit,” said Governor Cooper. “Today’s announcement means the company and Mecklenburg County will grow stronger because of this investment in the campus and the people around it.”

Industrial Hemp Processor Locates in Columbus County with $3.4 Million Investment

Carolina Botanicals, a company formed to process industrial hemp, will create 30 jobs as it establishes operations in Columbus County, North Carolina Commerce Secretary Anthony M. Copeland announced today.  The company will invest $3.46 million in its new facility, located in Tabor City.

“Today’s announcement is the latest example of the growing market for hemp-related products,” said Secretary Copeland. “And we know companies like Carolina Botanicals will find success here with our strong agricultural footprint, solid economy and available workforce.”
