Gov. Mike Easley announced today that Merchants Distributors Inc., a Hickory-based wholesale food distribution company, will expand its distribution center in Caldwell County, adding 200 jobs and investing more than $50 million by 2014. The project was made possible in part by a Job Development Investment Grant.

Mike Easley announced today that American Food Resources LLC, a national food wholesale and distribution company, plans to expand its facility in Nashville, investing $3 million and adding 70 jobs during the next three years. The expansion was made possible in part by a $50,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Department of Commerce is being deployed to work with Silver Line Building Products LLC., which has announced that it plans to close its Durham window manufacturing facility in late December. The closing will affect 428 workers.
