The North Carolina Energy Office has awarded $8 million in federal Recovery Act funds to 27 public and private agencies to promote the use of alternative fuels, make commercial and industrial buildings more energy efficient and provide for greater energy efficiency in transportation.
Gov. Bev Perdue announced today that Novo Nordisk, a global healthcare company and leader in diabetes care, and Nypro Inc., a global leader in manufactured precision plastics products, will expand operations in Johnston County and Buncombe County.  The companies plan to create 241 jobs over the next four years and will invest $161 million combined.  The two-company, multi-county project was made possible in part by state grants from the Job Development Investment Grant program and One North Carolina Fund.
Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that FCA, an Illinois-based custom packaging manufacturing company, will open a new facility in Edgecombe County.  FCA selected the KanBan Logistics facility located in the Kingsboro Industrial Park to manufacture skids that will house advanced manufactured engines for Cummins, a large industrial company in the region.  Initially the Company will employ 20 individuals with plans to grow to 40 employees.
Secretary Keith Crisco today announced that the N.C. Department of Commerce will sponsor a conference focused on North Carolina textile opportunities and developments in military and government-related markets both nationally and around the world.  The conference will be held Oct. 13 in Greensboro.
Gov. Bev Perdue announced today that TIMCO Aerosystems, LLC., one of the largest providers of aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services in the world, will open a passenger seat manufacturing operation in Wallburg. The company plans to create 275 jobs over the next five years and invest $2.75 million at the facility. The project was made possible in part by state grants from the Job Development Investment Grant program and One North Carolina Fund.
Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Tasz Inc. will create 21 jobs in Caldwell County. The company plans to create the jobs and invest $2.2 million in Lenoir during the next three years. The project was made possible in part by a $42,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.  
Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Valendrawers Inc., a manufacturer of drawer and door components for the furniture and cabinet industry, will expand in Davidson County. The company plans to create 50 jobs and invest $1.2 million in Lexington during the next three years. The project was made possible in part by a $100,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.
Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that DNP IMS America Corp., a printing-technology company, will expand in Concord. The company plans to create 37 jobs and invest $24.8 million during the next three years. The project was made possible in part by an $80,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund. 
Gov. Bev Perdue announced today that Cree Inc., a global leader in LED lighting technology and products, will expand its manufacturing operations in Durham. The company plans to create 244 jobs over the next two years and invest $135 million.  The project was made possible in part by a state grant from the Job Development Investment Grant program.
Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Baltek Inc., a manufacturer of core materials for the wind energy, mass transit, marine and military markets, will relocate to a new manufacturing facility in Guilford County.  The company plans to create 68 jobs and invest $3.25 million over the next three years in High Point.  The project was made possible in part by a $204,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.
