Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Rep. Daniel F. McComas, a Republican from New Hanover County, will be named chairman of the North Carolina State Ports Authority.  McComas will resign his house seat effective Sept. 2, to take the new position.   “The ports are a critical component to the economy of North Carolina,” said Gov. Bev Perdue. “Rep. McComas’ appointment demonstrates my commitment to the continued success and growth of the North Carolina State Ports Authority. I want the best person in the job, no matter what side of the aisle he or she sits on.”
