North Carolina is already benefiting from collaborative efforts to establish regional career pathways across the state, according to a new report prepared for the NCWorks Commission, Governor Roy Cooper’s statewide workforce development board. The state now has 35 NCWorks Certified Career Pathways, and the “impact report” focuses on the thirteen that had reached one year of implementation by June 30, 2018.

AvidXchange, a leading fintech provider of accounts payable (AP) and payment automation solutions for midsize companies, will expand its Charlotte headquarters, creating 1,229 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company, an industry leader in automating invoice and payment processes for midmarket companies spanning multiple industries will invest $41 million in Mecklenburg County.

Seven additional counties are now eligible to participate in the temporary employment program that puts North Carolinians to work on recovery efforts in areas affected by Hurricane Florence, N.C. Commerce Secretary Anthony M. Copeland announced today. To date, 51 counties have been declared eligible for the program. 

Moog Inc., a worldwide designer, manufacturer, and integrator of precision control components and systems, will expand its plant in Murphy and create 20 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company plans to invest $1.8 million in Cherokee County. “Large manufacturers like Moog have many choices when selecting a business location,” said Governor Cooper. “I’m pleased this company’s first-hand experience with North Carolina’s workforce gives them the confidence to expand in our state.”

Sonic Automotive (NYSE: SAH) will open a marketing resource and customer contact center in Gaston County, creating 500 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company, a Fortune 500 company and one of the largest automotive retailers in the United States, will make an $11.2 million investment in Lowell to establish the center.

The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) approved 19 grant requests totaling $7,275,100, N.C. Commerce Secretary Anthony M. Copeland announced today. The requests include commitments to create a total of 407 jobs, 167 of which were previously announced. The public investment in these projects will attract more than $95 million in private investment.

AirBoss of America Corp. has selected Halifax County for an expansion of its current facility, adding 42 new jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company plans to invest $5.2 million in Scotland Neck with the project. “Including today's AirBoss announcement, Halifax County has attracted three manufacturing expansions in under a month,” Governor Cooper said. “The talent, infrastructure and focus on collaboration make Halifax County the right choice for businesses that are ready to grow and thrive.”

Universal Preserv-A-Chem, Inc. (UPI) has selected Mebane as the new location for its natural ingredients and chemical supply business, creating 39 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company plans to invest $17 million in Mebane with the project. “Communities like Mebane attract manufacturing companies and their suppliers because of North Carolina’s strong transportation infrastructure and experienced workforce,” said Governor Cooper. “UPI will be well positioned to grow and add to Alamance County’s manufacturing and distribution industry.”

LendingTree, Inc., which operates the leading online loan marketplace, will expand its headquarters in Mecklenburg County, creating 436 new jobs by the end of 2023, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. “The Charlotte area serves as a home to many corporate headquarters, and LendingTree’s expansion raises North Carolina’s profile as an exceptional place for business,” said Governor Cooper. “LendingTree is choosing to expand their headquarters here because they know and value our skilled workforce and our outstanding quality of life .”

Pendo, a growing technology company founded in Raleigh, will more than triple its local operations over the next five years, adding 590 jobs and investing $34.5 million in Wake County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. “North Carolina is home to many of the best tech minds in the industry, and Pendo grew out of that innovative culture,” said Governor Cooper. “As homegrown companies evolve, they get the opportunity to reassess their location and expansion plans. North Carolina’s experienced tech talent pool won Pendo’s commitment to expand here.”
