Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that the Gates Corporation, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of automobile belts and hoses, will expand their facility in Ashe County.  The company plans to create 58 jobs and invest $4.6 million during the next three years in Jefferson.  The project was made possible in part by a $100,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that QVC, Inc., a major multimedia retailer, through its subsidiary QVC Rocky Mount, Inc., will expand its distribution facility in Edgecombe County.  The company plans to create 200 jobs and invest $71 million during the next five years in Rocky Mount.  The project was made possible in part by a $1,000,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Avgol, a leading manufacturer of ultra lightweight nonwoven fabrics, will expand its facility in Davie County.  The company plans to create 42 jobs and invest $35 million during the next three years in Mocksville.  The project was made possible in part by an $84,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that $14 million will be distributed to 26 local governments through the Community Development Block Grant Economic Recovery Program (CDBG ER).   Each grant will help develop infrastructure, housing or special needs in the community.  “Improving infrastructure and housing in our neediest communities, while creating jobs is a win-win for all involved,” said Gov. Perdue.  “I congratulate each of our communities that are participating in the CDBG program.”

Gov. Bev Perdue announced today the North Carolina Energy Office has awarded $8.5 million in federal Recovery Act funds to 43 public and private agencies to make downtown local government and small businesses more energy efficient, promote conservation and use of renewable fuels in industrial buildings and provide for greater energy efficiency in commercial and large nonprofit facilities.

- Gov. Bev Perdue announced today that North Carolina is now home to 100 wineries. The 100th winery in North Carolina to raise a glass is Cauble Creek Vineyard in Salisbury.   “Our wine industry is made up of small business owners, entrepreneurs and farmers.  Most importantly it creates jobs in our state,” said Gov. Perdue.   “Our wineries and vineyards provide a compelling reason to visit our state and they are a significant economic engine.”

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Providencia USA, Inc., a global manufacturer of nonwoven fabrics, will expand in Iredell County.  The company plans to create 28 jobs and invest $60 million during the next three years in Statesville.  The project was made possible in part by a $42,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that NS Aviation, a start-up provider of aircraft maintenance and repair services, will locate in Forsyth County.  The company plans to create 308 jobs and invest $1.27 million during the next four years in Winston-Salem.  The project was made possible in part by a $300,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Tuscarora Yarns, Inc., a leading yarn manufacturer, will locate a new facility in Rowan County.  The company plans to create 124 jobs and invest $6.3 million during the next three years in China Grove.  The project was made possible in part by a $146,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Frontier Logistics, a provider of logistics services to the plastics industry, will locate a new warehouse and transfer facility in Montgomery County.  The company plans to create 71 jobs and invest $5.15 million during the next five years in Star. The project was made possible in part by a $128,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.
