  RALEIGHGov. Bev Perdue today announced that Marvel Studios film Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr., will soon start pre-production in Wilmington. The motion picture is expected to be made in North Carolina over a 10 month period, including pre production, principal photography, and wrap, and have an estimated economic impact over $80 million while creating 550 crew jobs and over 1,000 talent opportunities.  
Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Gourmet Group LLC will acquire the assets of  Geppetto Kitchens and expand the manufacturing capacity of the plant.  Gourmet Group will continue to produce the Geppetto brand of kitchen cabinets over the next five years.  The project is expected to create 136 jobs and the company expects to invest over $2.3 million in the project over the next three years. The project was made possible in part by a $270,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Gov. Bev Perdue announced today that Sequenom Inc., a company committed to improving healthcare through revolutionary genetic analysis solutions, plans to build a state-of-the-art molecular diagnostics clinical laboratory in Wake County. The company plans to create 242 jobs and make a capital investment of $18.7 million at Research Triangle Park.

Bev Perdue today announced that Shalag US, Inc., a producer of non-woven fabrics used in hygienic wipes, will expand in Oxford.  The project is expected to create 25 jobs, and the company expects to invest $15.5 million in the plant by the end of 2012. The project was made possible in part by a $75,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.
