Governor Pat McCrory and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced today that Jacob Holm Industries, a global nonwoven manufacturing company, will expand its operations in Buncombe County.  The company plans to create 66 new jobs with a minimum qualifying investment of more than $45.9 million. The total capital investment is likely to exceed $60 million when the final project is complete.  This growth will take place over the next three years in Candler.  

Governor Pat McCrory and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced today that Greenheck Fan Corporation, a leading manufacturer of air movement and control equipment, will expand its operations in Cleveland County.  The company plans to create 184 new jobs and invest $30 million over the next five years in Shelby.      

Governor Pat McCrory and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced today that Custom Nonwoven, Inc., a global producer of polyester staple fiber, will locate a new manufacturing facility in Davidson County.  The company plans to create 72 jobs and invest more than $12.8 million over the next three years in Thomasville.

Upholstered furniture manufacturer creates more than 75 jobs in Catawba County

The N.C. Division of Workforce Solutions will participate in a Stand Down in Durham on Friday, September 20, 2013 to help homeless veterans find employment and obtain needed medical, dental, lifestyle services.

The Division of Employment Security’s (DES) Assistant Secretary, Dale Folwell, announced that the Division will merge two units to provide more accuracy, timeliness and quality to all aspects of the Division. DES, a division of the N.C. Department of Commerce, will merge Quality Control with Internal Audit effective immediately. “This move will enhance internal accountability and oversight,” said Folwell. “It will not add positions, but will increase our accuracy and consistency to benefit our customers.”

Governor Pat McCrory and N.C. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker announced today that Domtar Corporation, a pulp, paper and absorbent hygiene products manufacturer, marketer and distributor will expand its facility in Pitt County.   The company plans to create 35 new jobs and invest $100,000 over the next three years in Greenville. This expansion is in addition to the approximately $20 million of capital already invested in the region by Domtar during the past two years.  

Secretary Sharon Decker announced today that Dr. Patricia Mitchell will become the Assistant Secretary for Rural Economic Development at the N.C. Department of Commerce. 

The N.C. Department of Commerce announced today that Eden has been designated as a N.C. Certified Retirement Community.  The N.C. General Assembly established the program in 2008 to designate communities that offer unprecedented quality of living that is desirable to retirees. “This designation will be a valuable economic development tool for the city of Eden and its residents,” said N.C. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker. “The people of Eden recognize the valuable contributions that retirees can make to the overall enhancement of their community.”
