, N.C. - The North Carolina Industrial Commission announced today the approval of three administrative rules which significantly revise its Medical Fee Schedule.  The revised medical fee schedule is expected to provide the state’s workers’ compensation system with $27 million in annual savings and encourage increased access to medical care.  The new rules were approved by the Rules Review Commission at its February 19th meeting.  The rules were initially proposed by the Industrial Commission in November 2014 and were the subject of a public hearing held in December 2014.

, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla III and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced today that Shalag US, Inc. will be expanding its production facility in Granville County.  The expansion will create 40 new jobs over the next three years.  The company plans to invest $16 million in Oxford.  

, N.C. -  Governor Pat McCrory, N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla III and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced today that Butterball, LLC will expand its operations in Hoke County and create 367 new jobs over the next three years.  The company plans to invest $66.75 million in the city of Raeford over the same period.  

North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III and Assistant Secretary for Rural Development Dr. Pat Mitchell announced today that the N.C. Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) approved 15 grants or loans totaling more than $5 million with the commitment of 491 new jobs. 

Raleigh, N.C. --- The N.C. Department of Commerce announced today Main Street Solutions Awards going to the City of Clinton for up to $200,000 and the Town of Elkin in an amount up to $100,000. This innovative economic development strategy restores our downtowns across the state,” said Commerce Secretary John Skvarla. “Both of these projects will revitalize historic buildings, assist in creating new jobs and provide positive additional activity in downtown Clinton and Elkin.”

U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez is visiting North Carolina today to learn more about the state’s successful apprenticeship programs and how the customized training improves employer productivity and strengthens the skills of workers.  North Carolina has several apprenticeship programs formed by businesses partnering with NCWorks and the N.C. Apprenticeship and Training Bureau.

, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla III and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced today that Ecolab Inc. will expand its Kay Chemical Company operations in Greensboro and create 45 new jobs over the next three years.  The company plans to build a new 37,000 square foot office building and invest $10 million in Guilford County.  

, N.C. - North Carolina Industrial Commission Chairman Andrew T. Heath has announced the appointment of seven deputy commissioners.  Chairman Heath has appointed Lori W. Gaines, Melanie Wade Goodwin, Sumit Gupta, Robert Harris, Christopher Loutit, William “Bill” Shipley and Michael Silver.  All appointments are for six-year terms.  Deputy commissioners function as the Industrial Commission’s trial-level judges and hold hearings in contested workers’ compensation cases, state tort claims, and other matters.
