North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III and Assistant Secretary for Rural Development Dr. Patricia Mitchell announced today that the N.C. Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) approved 16 grants or loans totaling more than $6.0 million with the commitment of 1,331 new jobs. 
North Carolina Commerce announced today that the Town of Warrenton has been awarded up to $50,000 from the Main Street Solutions Fund. “The North Carolina Main Street Center continues to be a great way to provide assistance to revitalize communities throughout the state,” said Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced today that Allegheny Technologies Incorporated will be constructing a new manufacturing facility adjacent to its current site in Union County. The expansion will create 70 new jobs over the next three years with a company investment of $69.8 million in the City of Monroe.

Skvarla III and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced today that Carolina Nonwovens, LLC  will be expanding its facilities in North Carolina and doubling its workforce with the creation of  35 new jobs over the next three years.  The company plans to invest $12.25 million in the town of Maiden over the same period.

Skvarla III and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced today that BlueScope Buildings North America will be expanding its facility in Scotland County and creating 115 new jobs over the next three years.  The company plans to invest $9.2 millon in the city of Laurinburg over the same period.
North Carolina employers have received a boost in workforce investments, thanks to a grant program through NCWorks. Thirty-one of the state’s employers received grants this month totaling $246,807 to train 612 workers.  The federally funded NCWorks Incumbent Worker Training Grants are reimbursements awarded twice a year to employers who qualify for financial assistance in workforce training. As a result, more businesses enhance employee talent and workers can sharpen their skills through training at no cost to themselves.
