—Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) decreased in 70 of North Carolina’s counties in December, increased in 21, and remained unchanged in nine. Graham County had the highest unemployment rate at 12.0 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 3.9 percent. Thirteen of the state’s metro areas experienced rate decreases while one increased and one remained unchanged. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 7.3 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 4.2 percent. The December not seasonally adjusted statewide rate was 5.3 percent.

Raleigh, N.C. - N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla III and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced two productions will receive funds from the North Carolina Film and Entertainment Grant program. Each recipient will begin production within the next 60 days.  “TV series present the chance to establish long term relationships and recurring jobs in our state,” said Secretary Skvarla. “I look forward to watching our state’s fine talent and natural beauty when each of these productions airs on television.”

RALEIGH — The state’s seasonally adjusted December unemployment rate was 5.6 percent, decreasing 0.1 of a percentage point from November’s revised rate.  The national rate remained unchanged at 5.0 percent.

Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced today that Coty, Inc., a global leader in beauty products, will expand its manufacturing facility in Lee County and is planning to hire an additional 25 employees. Coty also plans to invest approximately $19 million at the site during the next three years.

Graham County had the highest unemployment rate at 11.5 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 4.1 percent. Two of the state's metro areas experienced rate increases while nine decreased and four remained unchanged. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 7.6 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 4.3 percent.

Report Tracks State’s Performance across 39 Measures

RALEIGH — The state's seasonally adjusted November unemployment rate was 5.7 percent, remaining unchanged from October's revised rate. The national rate remained unchanged at 5.0 percent. North Carolina's November 2015 unemployment rate was 0.2 of a percentage point higher than a year ago. The number of people employed increased 15,466 over the month to 4,503,977 and increased 133,817 over the year. The number of people unemployed decreased 2,015 over the month to 270,977, and increased 15,615 over the year.

Governor Pat McCrory, Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and Assistant Secretary for Rural Economic Development Dr. Patricia Mitchell announced today that the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) approved 15 grant requests totaling $3,039,244. The requests include commitments to create a total of 219 new jobs.
