IGH — The state's seasonally adjusted September unemployment rate was 4.7 percent, increasing 0.1 of a percentage point from August's revised rate. The national rate increased 0.1 of a percentage point to 5.0 percent. North Carolina's September 2016 unemployment rate was 1.0 percentage points lower than a year ago. Â The number of people employed increased 7,559 over the month to 4,596,364 and increased 98,277 over the year. The number of people unemployed increased 5,671 over the month to 227,377, and decreased 42,158 over the year.
