The NCWorks Commission has approved and endorsed seven regional plans to help people prepare and train for work. NCWorks Certified Career Pathways are education and training plans designed by employers in collaboration with the state’s workforce development and education professionals. Certified career pathways are being developed for high-demand jobs in many industry sectors to assist students and adults including individuals who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own to prepare for careers in the most efficient way. Career pathways outline and define the following:

Raleigh, N.C. - In a huge step forward for Governor Pat McCrory’s Innovation to Jobs (I2J) initiative, the state has selected Hatteras Venture Partners to manage the state’s $60 million Venture Capital Multiplier Fund.

Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina announced today that Norafin Americas, Inc. will establish a manufacturing plant in Henderson County, which will create 46 new jobs during the next three years. The German nonwoven textile maker will invest $16 million at a location in Mills River for its first production facility outside of Germany.

Charlotte, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) announced today that JELD-WEN anticipates it will add 200 jobs at its headquarters operations in Mecklenburg County. The global manufacturer of windows and doors is planning a new multi-million dollar corporate campus and training center in Charlotte.

Raleigh, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory, North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) announced today that Lotus Bakeries will create 60 new jobs by December 31, 2020 as it opens its first U.S manufacturing operation in Alamance County. The company plans to invest more than $48 million at the N.C. Industrial Center in Mebane.

igh, N.C. —Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) decreased in 95 of North Carolina’s counties in September, increased in two, and remained unchanged in three. Scotland County had the highest unemployment rate at 8.5 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 3.6 percent.  All fifteen of the state’s metro areas experienced rate decreases. Among the metro areas, Rocky Mount at 7.0 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 3.8 percent.  The September not seasonally adjusted statewide rate was 4.8 percent.
