Manufacturer will invest $45 million at its Franklin County facility

igh, N.C. —Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) decreased in 95 of North Carolina’s counties in September, increased in two, and remained unchanged in three. Scotland County had the highest unemployment rate at 8.5 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 3.6 percent.  All fifteen of the state’s metro areas experienced rate decreases. Among the metro areas, Rocky Mount at 7.0 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 3.8 percent.  The September not seasonally adjusted statewide rate was 4.8 percent. 

U.S. unit of international manufacturer will invest more than $15 million

Governor Pat McCrory, North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) today announced that Pepsi Bottling Ventures LLC will create 50 jobs over the next five years at a new $16.5 million distribution center in Robeson County. Additionally, another 250 jobs will remain in the area.

Joint textile venture will invest more than $12.5 million

IGH — The state's seasonally adjusted September unemployment rate was 4.7 percent, increasing 0.1 of a percentage point from August's revised rate. The national rate increased 0.1 of a percentage point to 5.0 percent. North Carolina's September 2016 unemployment rate was 1.0 percentage points lower than a year ago.  The number of people employed increased 7,559 over the month to 4,596,364 and increased 98,277 over the year. The number of people unemployed increased 5,671 over the month to 227,377, and decreased 42,158 over the year.

Loans and grants support 200 new jobs statewide

Robeson County, N.C.State officials deployed the NCWorks Mobile Career Center to Robeson County today to give residents affected by flooding the opportunity to apply for state and federal disaster assistance.

, N.C. – The NCWorks Commission has approved and endorsed a new way for people to prepare and train for work in the Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology field in the Cumberland County region. The recommendation, known as an NCWorks Certified Career Pathway, is an education and training plan designed by employers in collaboration with the state's workforce development and education professionals.
