Film productions across the state generated more than $302 million in direct in-state spending in 2024. This year is the second highest year-end total since 2015, when the state’s current film grant program began, and the third highest total since 2000, when the state began offering film incentives to support its film industry.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced that Cherokee Tobacco Company will create 39 new jobs and invest more than $14 million to build a new manufacturing and distribution operation in Caswell County.“Agriculture roots run deep in North Carolina as it remains our greatest economic driver,” said Governor Cooper. “Not only do we have a skilled workforce, we also have a great business climate and one of the largest manufacturing economies in the nation to support the global operations of growing companies and Caswell County fits the bill.”

Today, Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders celebrated the progress made under the Governor’s leadership to grow the state’s clean energy economy. The Governor and Secretary spoke at Kempower, an electric vehicle charging station manufacturing company in Durham and were joined by Kempower officials and Dr. Scott Ralls, Wake Technical Community College president.
