State Grant Helps Company Create 29 Jobs in Kings Mountain
Gov. Bev Perdue announced the Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Workforce Development were awarded in Greensboro today. A furniture company, tire manufacturer, trailblazing apprenticeship program, and four North Carolinians are being recognized for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions in helping North Carolina achieve its workforce development goals.
Gov. Bev Perdue announced today that North Carolina ranked as the nation’s “Top Business Climate,” according to Site Selection magazine. It is the tenth time in the last 12 years the state has taken the top honor in the annual ranking by Site Selection, one of the nation’s premier economic development magazines.

State Grants Assist Manufacturing Company with Expansion
Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Unilever United States Inc., a manufacturer of personal care products, will expand its operations in Hoke County. The company plans to create 21 jobs and invest $29.9 million over the next three years in Raeford. The project was made possible in part by a $63,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund. “My top priority is creating jobs,” said Gov. Perdue. “Our world-class workforce and strong business climate makes North Carolina an ideal place for manufacturers like Unilever to thrive and grow.”
