RALEIGH -- Gov. Bev Perdue has signed House Bill 628 for the construction of the North Carolina Aquarium Pier at Nags Head, which will create jobs and enhance tourism in one of North Carolina’s most popular destinations.
The state honored six distinguished North Carolinians today for their significant contributions to the success of North Carolina’s tourism industry. Larry Gustke, John and Faye Cooper, Betty and David Huskins, and Reyn Bowman received the 2009 Winner’s Circle awards from Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco during the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism & Hospitality at the Raleigh Convention Center.  
Conference to Focus on Strategies to Succeed During Tough Times
N.C. Secretary of Commerce J. Keith Crisco announced today that Lynn Minges has been promoted to Assistant Secretary for Tourism, Marketing and Global Branding. In the expanded role, Minges will continue to lead the development and marketing of the state’s tourism, film, sports and wine industries, but will also help position the state as the preferred location for domestic and international business.
