Governor Pat McCrory, North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) today announced the arrival of Ivar’s Cabinet Shop, Inc. to Cleveland County. The company designs and builds custom displays for retailers and other buyers around the country. It intends to create 27 jobs in Shelby over the coming three years, investing $2.8 million in a new facility.

Governor Pat McCrory, North Carolina Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla, III and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) announced today that AAIPharma Services Corp./Cambridge Major Laboratories (AAIPharma/CML) is expanding its laboratory operation and global headquarters in Wilmington  and will create at least 37 new jobs by 2018.  The company will invest at least $15.8 million for lab expansion and a new headquarters over the next three years. Additional jobs and investment are anticipated through 2019.

Raleigh, N.C. — The state’s seasonally adjusted October unemployment rate was 5.7 percent, decreasing 0.1 of a percentage point from September’s revised rate.  The national rate declined 0.1 of a percentage point to 5.0 percent. North Carolina’s October 2015 unemployment rate was unchanged from a year ago.  The number of people employed increased 10,871 over the month to 4,488,328 and increased 124,146 over the year. The number of people unemployed decreased 2,042 over the month to 273,645, and increased 11,591 over the year.

RALEIGH — Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) decreased in all 100 of North Carolina's counties in September. Scotland County had the highest unemployment rate at 10.2 percent while Buncombe County had the lowest at 4.0 percent. All fifteen of the state's metro areas experienced rate decreases. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 8.0 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 4.3 percent. The September not seasonally adjusted statewide rate was 5.4 percent.

RALEIGH — The state’s seasonally adjusted September unemployment rate was 5.8 percent, decreasing 0.1 of a percentage point from August’s revised rate. The national rate remained unchanged at 5.1 percent. North Carolina’s September 2015 unemployment rate was unchanged from a year ago. The number of people employed increased 3,670 over the month to 4,476,319 and increased 118,509 over the year. The number of people unemployed decreased 4,664 over the month to 276,072, and increased 7,090 over the year.
