Carvana (NYSE: CVNA), a leading e-commerce platform for buying and selling used cars will locate a new inspection and reconditioning facility in Cabarrus County, creating more than 400 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest more than $30 million in Concord over the coming years. “The online marketplace only works for buyers and sellers when hardworking people are moving the supply chain forward. We know our quality workforce is a major reason why Carvana chose to grow and invest in our state,” said Governor Cooper.

Kitsbow, a specialty clothing manufacturer based in California, will create 53 new jobs in McDowell County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $890,000 in operating a manufacturing and distribution facility in Old Fort. “Kitsbow’s decision to move their manufacturing facility to Old Fort is exciting news for McDowell County,” said Governor Cooper. “This new plant means growth for the whole area and good jobs for the people who will power production.”

Hockmeyer Equipment Corporation, a process equipment maker, will create 90 new jobs as it expands its operations in Pasquotank County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $6 million with an expansion in Elizabeth City. “New jobs in Elizabeth City keep happening because the county and town are doing the right things to attract businesses,” said Governor Cooper. “Local effort to create a great place to live and welcome talented workers originally brought Hockmeyer Equipment Corporation to our state 35 years ago and is why they are expanding again today.”

Xerox (NYSE: XRX), a Fortune 500 technology company, will build a new Center of Excellence in Cary, creating 600 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $18.4 million in Wake County. “Xerox, which had many locations to choose from, selected North Carolina because they know we can offer the highly-skilled workers they need, both now and in the future,” said Governor Cooper.

Telephonics Corporation, a communication system company, will create 75 jobs as it expands its operations in Pasquotank County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $5.5 million in a new facility, located in Elizabeth City. “North Carolina has the second largest aerospace cluster in the U.S.,” said Governor Cooper. “Telephonics Corporation can see Pasquotank County’s growing infrastructure and main street development, along with a strong workforce to fuel their expansion in Elizabeth City.”

Public comments are being accepted through August 19 on proposed amendments to the Criteria for Operation and Implementation of the Job Maintenance and Capital Development Fund program.

Merck (NYSE: MRK), a leading global biopharmaceutical company, will invest more than $650 million and create more than 400 jobs in North Carolina, building a new production facility at its Maurice R. Hilleman Center for Vaccine Manufacturing in Durham and expanding its packaging operations in Wilson.  This substantial project will enable Merck to meet growing demand for GARDASIL and GARDASIL 9 recombinant human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which is used to prevent several cancers associated with HPV.

Black’s Tire Service, Inc, a tire distributor and service company will create 26 jobs as it expands its operations in Columbus County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $2.7 million to expand their current distribution center, located in Whiteville.

ABB, Inc. (NYSE: ABB), a global leader in electrification products, robotics, and industrial automation, will expand in Orange County and create more than 400 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest up to $39.9 million to upgrade equipment and increase the size of its current facility in Mebane. 

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has been awarded a Job Maintenance and Capital Development Fund (JMAC) grant to support the upgrade and addition of manufacturing equipment at its Fayetteville tire plant.  As a result of this modernization project, Goodyear, one of Cumberland County’s largest private employers, will maintain its important role in the company’s operations and 2,000 North Carolina jobs will be protected.
