RALEIGH— The North Carolina Departments of Commerce and Revenue have joined forces to increase support for small businesses across the state.  The initiative is being spearheaded by the Office of the Commissioner for Small Business.  The partnership will assist business owners in an effort that could potentially save jobs and keep businesses from closing their doors.

“As the biggest driver for new job creation in North Carolina, small and mid-sized businesses are critical to our economic recovery, and these business owners need to know that we are doing everything we can to help them succeed,” said Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco.

The agencies will distribute information to new and struggling business owners, directing them to the services of Business Link North Carolina (BLNC), the small business center at the Department of Commerce.  Business owners, who know where to ask for help, will be better prepared to create, maintain and save more jobs in North Carolina.

To help increase the awareness of resources, the Department of Revenue will insert flyers about BLNC in packets mailed to newly registered business owners and to struggling businesses with delinquent tax accounts.

Business Link North Carolina partners with a network of statewide, state-funded resource providers offering services to North Carolina businesses.  Business owners can contact BLNC at 1-800-228-8443 or www.blnc.gov to receive expert advice and referrals on a wide array of topics from how to start a business and state permitting and licensing to improving cash management and seeking business financing.

Gov. Perdue’s commitment to job creation and retentionand to helping businesses grow and prosper – continues to be a priority for the administration.  For more information contact: BLNC at 1-800-228-8443 or the Department of Revenue at 1-877-252-3052.
