Sealed Air Corporation, a leading packaging solutions company, will create 25 jobs and invest $10.4 million over three years as it expands its manufacturing facility in Lenoir, Governor Roy Cooper announced today.
“Leading manufacturers continue to recognize North Carolina as the best state for business in America,” Governor Cooper said. “Sealed Air decided to expand here because they know North Carolina has what it takes for businesses to succeed.”
Sealed Air manufactures innovative packaging solutions and is headquartered in Charlotte. Sealed Air has manufacturing sites in Lenoir, Hudson and High Point, N.C. This project will enhance production capacity with a renovated facility and new equipment for the company.
“Sealed Air has been a partner in North Carolina since deciding to locate its global headquarters in Charlotte in 2014,” said N.C. Commerce Secretary Anthony M. Copeland. “We look forward to continuing to work with Sealed Air to expand and bring good jobs to North Carolina.”
Salaries for the new jobs will vary by position but will average $49,306 annually. The average salary in Caldwell County is $34,744.
The North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. (EDPNC) were instrumental in supporting the company’s expansion decision.
“Sealed Air Corporation and, in particular, the Sealed Air Lenoir Facility, sincerely appreciate the partnership and financial commitment that the State of North Carolina has demonstrated through its support of our investment in this Facility and its talented and committed employees,” said Karen Crisp, Plant Manager at Sealed Air Corporation. “We are looking forward to continuing to grow our operations here in the local community.”
A performance-based grant of $100,000 over three years from the One North Carolina Fund will help facilitate Sealed Air’s expansion in Caldwell County. The One N.C. Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All One NC grants require a matching grant from local governments and any award is contingent upon that condition being met.
“Sealed Air is bringing quality, well-paying manufacturing jobs and a significant capital investment to Western North Carolina with this project,” said N.C. Senator Deanna Ballard. “I am proud of our community’s momentum to maximize our talent, business climate and infrastructure towards supporting business expansion like Sealed Air’s.”
In addition to North Carolina Commerce and the Economic Partnership of North Carolina, other key partners in the project include the North Carolina General Assembly, Caldwell County, and the Caldwell Economic Development Commission.
