Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that TyraTech, a Florida-based eco-technology company, will relocate its headquarters to Morrisville. TyraTech has chosen to bring 105 jobs to Wake County because of the talented workforce available in North Carolina.
“Tyratech is an excellent example of North Carolina’s successful efforts to attract high-tech and green industries. In this case, we got both,” Gov. Perdue said. “Like so many other companies, Tyratech recognizes that we have a highly-skilled workforce and top-ranked business climate thanks to our investments in education and worker training.”
TyraTech is an emerging eco-technology company with proprietary technology that allows it to produce highly effective plant based pest and parasite solutions that are potent yet safe for humans, animals and the environment. TyraTech is entering a period of rapid expansion which requires a highly qualified and innovative team. Ongoing research supports TyraTech’s efforts to develop unique foods that control intestinal parasites in humans, control pests found in homes and businesses, and control parasites found in or on companion animals.
“TyraTech is excited about the pending move to the Research Triangle Park area and specifically Morrisville,” said Alan Reade, executive chairman for TyraTech. “One of the key drivers to make the move to the Triangle area are the educational institutions and universities, especially NC State which has very strong programs in entomology and veterinary sciences which we hope to draw upon as we expand.”
“This is a great new project for Morrisville and will offer our citizens jobs and growth opportunities in an economic recovery still trying to gain momentum,” said Morrisville Mayor Jackie Holcombe. “The Town’s proximity to local research universities and a highly skilled talent pool were critical factors in the selection of Morrisville for this new, cutting edge technology firm.”
North Carolina continues to have a top-ranked business climate. Through Gov. Perdue’s JobsNOW initiative, the state works aggressively to create jobs, train and retrain its workforce, and lay the foundation for a strong and sustainable economic future.
Project partners include the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Community Colleges, N.C. State University, Wake County Economic Development, the City of Morrisville and the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce.
