Governor Stein Letter on Workforce Pell to NCWorks Commission

Dear Chair Rabon and Dr. Izod:

Effective April 30, 2026, the NCWorks Commission is designated as the administrator of the Workforce Pell Grant Program pursuant to 20 U.S.C. § 1088(b)(3)(A).

Workforce Pell is a federal financial aid program under Title IV of the Higher Education Act that expands Pell Grant eligibility to students enrolled in approved short-term workforce training programs at eligible institutions. The NCWorks Commission acts in partnership with the Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS) of the North Carolina Department of Commerce to execute the state's workforce goals.

I appreciate the continued work of the NCWorks Commission to ensure workers have good-paying jobs and employers have the well-trained and educated talent they need.
